We are one of the West Coast’s leading window manufacturers in Tacoma, Washington!

Our Vinyl manufacturing operation is seeking a Supervisor in Training professional to initiate the process of learning the various tasks associated with our Supervisor role. The Supervisor in Training role will learn the leadership responsibilities of their assigned department and continue with that learning throughout various departments throughout the plant to receive a well-rounded idea of various leadership styles and a comprehensive understanding of Milgard’s business.

Some key learning focuses of a Supervisor in Training will be:

  • Learns to oversee department personnel to ensure work requirements are met while minimizing costs.
    • Assist in developing or revising standard operating procedures and ensure compliance by personnel along with compliance of company policies, procedures, plant wide safety, and rules of employee conduct.
    • Learns how to provide training to department personnel.
  • Learns effective communication with internal and external customers on a needed basis. Follows up on manufacturing related issues to completion. Learns to handle issues in a tactful and professional manner.
  • Learns effective employee relations. How to provide employee coaching and development. Learns to make employment decisions (interview, hire, discipline, & terminate). How to resolve employee issues through problem resolution.
  • How to balances quality, productivity, cost, safety and morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Works to continuously improve in all areas.
  • How to supervise departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures related to all facets of job.
  • Other activities as assigned.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 3 years related progressive experience including 1 year in a Lead position; preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be able to improve working conditions (safety, quality, productivity, and cost) and increase subordinates' skills and capabilities.
  • Must prepare activity plans for the above and discuss them with manager.
  • Must be able to assist Supervisors and Managers in improving a system of production control, standard operating procedure, safety, quality control, and performance management.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred.
  • Candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and be able to withstand standing and repetitive motions.
