Job Description

We have an opportunity for a Quality Engineer Manager to join our Milgard Quality Team located in Tacoma, WA. The Quality Engineer Manager will have the opportunity to contribute significantly to an evolving lean environment all while developing a high-performance Quality team. Some key responsibilities of the Quality Engineer Manager:

  • Plan and develop the Quality Control program for various processes within the context of a manufacturing operation.
  • Design and conduct Quality Engineering studies for the following: to determine root causes of quality non-conformances, to initiate changes in process, tooling, and product design etc. to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Initiate nonconformance reports, assures segregation and identification of rejected material, lead investigations and make dispositions of rejected nonconforming products; conduct Management Review Board actions when required.
  • Support the goals of the Quality Assurance Department and Profit Improvement Projects; contribute ideas to these programs and work on implementation.
  • Organize and generate detailed quality information reports showing trends and the impact of process improvements.
  • High level of competence in Quality Technology including Root Cause Corrective Measures (RCCM), CAPAs, statistical techniques, control charts, sampling plans, quality cost drivers, DOE, correlation and regression, analysis of variance, probability
  • External and Internal Audit processes
  • Perform DOE's and other statistical analysis to support product and process optimization or determine causes of process variation.

The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of related experience, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing or Industrial engineering. American Society of Quality Certified Quality Engineer (ASQ CQE). Black/Green belt Certification for six sigma. Experience needed with statistical software such Minitab. A working knowledge of CAD, MS Word and Excel. Experience with development and/or support of a Quality Process System. Design and qualify and audit inspection and test equipment.
