We have an immediate need for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to join our Tacoma, WA location Technical Team. The process engineer position is responsible for defining manufacturing processes, product specifications and work instructions to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost requirements are met. This position troubleshoots problems with production and takes corrective action. The process engineer also researches the purchase of equipment or upgrades to existing equipment.  

Essential Functions

  • Evaluate, implement and monitor processes and operating systems for the manufacture of pultruded fiberglass products.
  • Create/edit/maintain necessary documentation.
  • Establishes and identifies critical variables to promote a product and the process repeatability.
  • Identify, design and create manufacturing concepts that will control the quality of the product.
  • Monitor and maintain process controls.
  • Assure sound engineering and validation principals are applied to process design.
  • Develop processes to be trouble free and ensure success every time (zero defects).
  • Part of the MRB team, for material verification.
  • Assess the availability of raw materials and their safety and environmental impact of the facility.
  • Assist with equipment selection and drive implementation of new equipment. q Manage projects to assure on-time/on budget implementation.
  • Monitor and improve the efficiency, output and safety of manufacturing processes through observations and measurements as well as by collecting and interpreting data from other technical and operating personnel.
  • Work closely with other specialists (including scientists) for quality control of raw materials.
  • Assume responsibility for safety/environmental issues and ongoing performance of processes.
  • Define, characterize, and lead the implementation of new processes.
  • Create Drawings with SolidWorks
  • Maintain, update Bill of Materials (BOM )


  • Highly versatile as it relates to generating design, planning and seeing it through implementation.
  • Advanced Quality Planning (SPC, FMEA, DOE, PPAP, and Verification & Validation)
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • SolidWorks design proficiency
  • Communication Proficiency.
  • Initiative.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment and on a manufacturing shop floor.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

3-5 years’ experience in Process Engineering role.

Preferred Experience
5-7 years’ experience in Process Engineering role related to glass fiber composites manufacturing.
